Following our update in December 2021, we can now report that during the first six months of 2022 the project team has been undertaking the final quality assurance checks on the scores across all 22 colleges, as part of Stage Two (evaluation of roles) of the project.  These checks have taken longer than initially anticipated however, we are pleased to report that after the Summer we will be able to start to present the outcomes from the evaluation process to individual college HR departments for final feedback before these are presented to the NJNC Job Evaluation Working Group and subsequently to the full NJNC for ratification. We appreciate you are all awaiting the outcomes of the exercise and we thank you for your patience whilst we do the necessary work and finalise quality checks.

Due to the volume of work required to properly validate and analyse the Stage 2 data, we are not as far on with Stage Three (development of pay and grading options) as we had hoped, as we require a robust set of job evaluation outcomes to undertake the actual pay modelling part of the project. The Pay Working Group has however been continuing to meet regularly and has been undertaking a full review of the previously gathered pay data with individual colleges and verifying this to ensure modelling work can commence straight away once the outcomes from the evaluation process are known.

The Role Analysts who have remained on the project for the past two and a half years have now returned to their substantive posts back at their individual colleges. We would like to thank them for their hard work and for their dedication to the project to date.

The project team will be able to firm up the details around timescales for taking forward Stage Three after the Summer break and these will be communicated to you as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, you can contact your college HR department, Job Evaluation Project Team or UNISONGMBUnite.
